About us

Be In! Network of Accessible Film Festivals

Is a collaborative platform founded in 2019 by six European film festivals committed to promoting accessibility, inclusion and diversity in the film industry. The founding members—Accessible Film Festival (Turkey), Festival Inclús (Spain), Klappe Auf! Short Film Festival (Germany), Oska Bright Film Festival (UK), The European Film Festival Integration You and Me (Poland), and The Extraordinary Film Festival (Belgium)—came together with a shared mission to create a more inclusive cultural landscape.

Commitment to accessible, inclusive cinema for all

The network unites festivals that prioritize accessibility features such as audio description and captions, utilize accessible venues, showcase films about disability or created by disabled filmmakers, and actively include disabled people in their teams.

The network fosters collaboration and innovation among its members by sharing knowledge, best practices and resources while advocating for the inclusion of underrepresented audiences and creators.

At its core, Be In! believes that participation in cultural life is a fundamental human right, as stated in Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The network recognizes the need to remove barriers and create inclusive environments where everyone can enjoy the arts equally. Through its activities, Be In! works to highlight good examples of accessibility at film festivals, amplify diverse voices in cinema and provide an open platform for conversations about film.

Accessibility as a universal value for a more inclusive culture

Be In! also emphasizes that accessibility is not just for individuals with disabilities. Accessibility benefits everyone, including children, the elderly, and individuals facing temporary or situational limitations. By championing accessibility as a universal value, Be In! seeks to contribute to a more inclusive cultural landscape worldwide.
